EMDR Training

Complete EMDR Training Program for BIPOC Clinicians

Presented by Anna-Michele Antoine-Cooper (EMDRAA Accredited Trainer)

This program is specifically for clinicians identifying as Black, Indigenous or other traditionally underrepresented persons of colour (BIPOC) to create a space for learning as part of our commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in our programs as well as increase the number of BIPOC EMDR trained therapists available to those who seek help as well as developing an ongoing supportive community.

5 Day Training Program (40 hours)

plus 10 hours group consultation

  • Day 1: 20 Mar (9-5 EST)
  • Days 2-4: 3-5 Apr (9-5 EST)
  • Day 5: 17 Apr (9-5 EST)

EMDR Therapy is recommended by the World Health Organization for the treatment of Anxiety Related Disorders in Adults & Children (WHO 2013). This includes PTSD, acute stress and general anxiety often caused by adverse childhood events, exposure to violence or disasters. Our program will teach you how to use the knowledge of EMDR trauma treatment in a culturally sensitive and client focused manner based on the "body keeping score" (neurobiology). EMDR has over 30 years of evidence-based research, established in over 80 countries and a history of humanitarian work adapted for diverse populations. EMDR has also been shown to be the most cost-effective treatment for PTSD.

You will learn how to use all components of EMDR therapy as a culturally sensitive, client-centred therapy.

Our professional program was developed by Roy Kiessling, LISW whose primary mission is to serve the EMDR community and those who seek our help. The EMDR Consulting program is the largest training organisation in the US and we are honoured to have their support in providing:

  • Affordable all-in-one training fees that include:
    • all 40 hours of lecture and practice required for membership to EMDRAA
    • 10 hours group consultation by EMDRAA Accredited Consultants
    • 200 page training manual and worksheets, free videos, downloadable files of your training materials and worksheets
    • lifetime access to our secure TRNA community for support, questions, developing local networks and professional development

Upon registration, you will connected to our EMDR Training Program Library to access  information about EMDR including videos on traumatology, the model and mechanisms involved in EMDR therapy, and research papers. Your registration will be for all five days of training.

To participate in EMDR training, you must be a mental health clinician registered with AHPRA or have equivalent qualifications in mental health. Before you register, please make sure you are eligible to train by visiting the EMDRAA criteria https://emdraa.org/are-you-eligible/ - if you believe you have the clinical background for training (minimum 4-year degree in mental health and 2 years clinical experience) you will need to submit the Exceptional Circumstances to Train form to EMDRAA for their approval. We will provide you with an EMDRAA consultant for the training.

We also invite people who have previously trained in EMDR to join the program if the need to complete your training or would like to attend as to enhance your knowledge from a different perspective.

Please contact us at admin@traumarecovery.network if you have any questions or concerns.
