When critical incidents occur, mental health providers experience a surge in need both in their existing case load and as members themselves of communities. EMDR trained providers are uniquely positioned to take a preventive role in recovery from a potentially traumatizing event, by providing EMDR Early Intervention (EEI). EEI’s focus is on reducing the load of stress with brief and safe intervention.

The critical incident and disaster context requires a different conceptualisation and training to meet survivors with support that prioritises the recent episode. This integrated model is the topic of a 2 hour webinar, March 1 6- 8 pm Eastern Time.

Marlene Kenney, MA, LICSW is Coordinator of the Boston Area Trauma Response Network, RTEP/GTEP trainer, National Child Traumatic Stress Network Psychological First Aid and Post Traumatic Stress Management and international expert on EMDR with critical incidents will provide an orientation to critical incident and disaster response for EMDR clinicians.

This training will help prepare EMDR clinicians to respond using AIP informed disaster mental health. The webinar will cover the basics of how to approach critical incidents and provide the appropriate intervention whether you are working 1:1 in your office, with a team, or deciding which EMDR group modality to deliver. Team development will be discussed as well.

We are meeting with the Boston Area TRN who are working with Rhode Island EMDR therapists who are involved with the Brown University shooting in December.

This webinar is offered with care in support of the ongoing work of TRNA.

Registration is free. We seek to make our information and support available to all EMDR clinicians - if you want to help us in our mission to bring EMDR therapy to anyone who help, please consider donating to our work.

Your donation helps us to spread Shapiro's vision to "do our best to ensure no one is left behind"
