Please join us in Ballarat for our comprehensive EMDR training program designed to be inclusive, affordable and community focused. We provide ongoing mentoring and support to help you integrate EMDR into your clinical practice.
Our goal is to increase the capacity of rural clinicians to provide evidence-based trauma treatment by bringing the training to you; saving you the cost of travel and accommodation. The program will be presented by EMDRAA Accredited Trainers: Pam Brown, Dee Cooper and Anna Antoine-Cooper. Our program in Ballarat has been organised with the help of the TRNA Central Victoria EMDR Group and a donation from the Rotary Club of Gisborne.
Our professional program was developed by Roy Kiessling, LISW whose primary mission is to serve the EMDR community and those who seek our help. The EMDR Consulting program is the largest training organisation in the US and we are honoured to have their support in providing:
- Affordable all-in-one training fees that include:
- all 40 hours of lecture and practice required for membership to EMDRAA
- 10 hours group consultation by EMDRAA Accredited Consultants
- 200 page training manual and worksheets, free videos of Roy Kiessling presenting his EMDR training approach, downloadable files of your training materials and worksheets
- lifetime access to our secure TRNA community for support, questions, developing local networks and professional development
Upon registration, you will connected to our EMDR Training Program Library to access information about EMDR including videos on traumatology, the model and mechanisms involved in EMDR therapy, and research papers. Your registration will be for all five days of training.
To participate in EMDR training, you must be a mental health clinician registered with AHPRA or have equivalent qualifications in mental health. Before you register, please make sure you are eligible to train by visiting the EMDRAA criteria https://emdraa.org/are-you-eligible/ - if you believe you have the clinical background for training (minimum 4-year degree in mental health and 2 years clinical experience) you can submit the Exceptional Circumstances to Train form to EMDRAA for their approval and the TRNA will provide you with an EMDRAA consultant.
As our primary goal is to help build a trauma response community, we also offer a reduced rate for:
- Refresher Course Fees for EMDR therapists who have completed their training and want to attend as a "refresher" as well as gain some ideas on how use target sequence planning with the processing continuum.
- Part 2 Training Fees for people who have completed part 1 and wish to complete their training, includes 10 hours of group consultation. Attendance at Day 1 is optional, though you will be provided with recordings of the lecture for review.
Rural Workforce Australia Victoria Grants Program
There are several government grants to support professional development for mental health clinicians working in rural and remote areas which can be used for our training. We have been advised that the Allied Health and Nursing Upskilling Grant applications will be open on 1 February 2025 for training commencing after that date. This grant supports practitioners working in Ballarat (an MMM 2 area) with up to $1000 in funding.
People who wish to attend from more rural areas outside Ballarat (MMM3+) may wish to consider applying for a grant through the Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP) within the Regional Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV). The program provides funding of up to $10,000 per eligible practitioner per financial year for workshops, post-graduate qualifications, short courses, conferences, professional development requirements of the applicant’s professional registration and/or association, recognised industry skills training, travel and accommodation and more.
The grant round will be open for all of February but you must apply at least one day before the training begins to be eligible, the grants are highly competitive, so the funding cannot be guaranteed.
Applicants will need to pay for the training then claim reimbursement from RWAV, you do not have to have paid before you put in your grant application. The sooner you get the application in, you will find out if you obtain a grant - so we suggest you get you application in on 1 February.
