We invite Tasmanian mental health clinicians to join us in Launceston to learn EMDR therapy and help build a community of trauma treatment specialists. We also welcome people from the mainland if they are interested in a trip to a beautiful part of the world.
Our mission is to increase the capacity of rural clinicians to provide evidence-based trauma treatment by bringing the training to you, saving you the cost of travel and accommodation. The program will be presented by local community TRNA faculty members: Dee Cooper (EMDRAA Accredited Trainer) and Kevin Peel (EMDRAA Consultant) plus Anna Antoine-Cooper (EMDRAA Accredited Trainer).
We are accredited by EMDRAA to present the EMDR Training Program developed by Roy Kiessling, LISW which has been approved by the EMDR International Association since 2013. it is the largest training program in the US. You will be provided with a 200-page manual, clinical practice workbook, training videos for review, and 10 hours of group consultation.
Upon registration, you will be able to use the EMDR Training Program Library where you can access information about EMDR including videos on traumatology, the model and mechanisms involved, and research papers.
To participate in EMDR training, you must be a mental health clinician registered with AHPRA or have equivalent qualifications in mental health. Before you register, please make sure you are eligible to train by visiting the EMDRAA criteria https://emdraa.org/are-you-eligible/ - if you believe you have the clinical background for training (minimum 4-year degree in mental health and 2 years clinical experience) you can submit the Exceptional Circumstances to Train form to EMDRAA for their approval and the TRNA will provide you with an EMDRAA consultant.
